SEA TRAIL GOLF RESORT & CONVENTION CENTER MEETING
PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZES FUNDRAISER
Brunswick County Sheriffs Department Recipient of
Teddy Bear Fundraiser
North Carolina Society of Government Meeting Professionals (NC-SGMP) held
their annual board retreat and meeting at Sea Trail Golf Resort & Convention
Center on June 5-7, 2008. Each year for their annual meeting they hold a
community fundraiser. This years fundraiser was organized by Dana Hrubik,
community chairperson for NC-SGMP and convention sales manager at Sea Trail.
Dana Hrubik's project was the Teddy Bears Program with the Brunswick County
Sheriffs Department. Deputies use these bears to give to children that are
involved in an accident or a domestic violence situation. Dana Hrubik sent
out an email challenging each member of the NC-SGMP organization to collect
as many bears as possible. Dana Hrubik then challenged the various departments
at Sea Trail and offered free pizza for the department collecting the most bears.
The race was on; the departments at Sea Trail are very competitive when it comes
to raising money or items for children in the community. The Golf Department
was the winnerdonating over 140 bears. Other Sea Trail departments collectively
totalled over 200 bears.
Through the efforts of Sea Trail and Members of NC-SGMP, there were over 350
new teddy bears given to the Brunswick County Sheriffs Department at the NC-SGMP
award dinner on Friday evening, June 6, 2008.
Congratulations to Dana Hrubik and Sea Trail for stepping up to the plate and
making this fundraiser such a success.
